Context
These novodel pieces (official restrikes) were struck using the same dies as the official coins. While the exact date these novodels were struck is unknown, they would have been struck in 1758 at the very earliest. Because these coins were struck on a 24 Kopeck planchet, yet cut to be the same diameter, these novodels are much thicker, making them more than twice as heavy.
