Context
The standard weight of this coin was 2/31 troy ounce or 31 grains. Reverse die varieties exist: Sp#3712 (1729-31) Small dome-shaped crown without pearls on arch; Sp#3712A (1732-60) Double arched crown with pearls; Before the Great Recoinage of 1817, there is no known evidence to suggest that separate 'prooflike' strikes were issued for the Maundy ceremony, suggesting that the money handed out was identical to the current circulating coinage.
